The Photographer on Call - Sharon McGarry

Sharon McGarry became interested in cameras when her children were born, recording every smile, every precious new discovery, and each special moment in time.   As her children matured she expanded the scope of her photography to capturing nature at its best, particularly flowers. Macro pictures are her specialty and since she has advanced to digital, the macro artwork has become more challenging but more rewarding.

Sharon was born in Newburgh, New York and attended Dutchess Community College, Marist College and St. Michael’s College, where she just received her Masters of Science in Administration. Her college electives were always art-based including courses in oil painting and photography. She worked in oils and acrylics, but returned to photography as her first love.

In 1992 Sharon and her family moved to Colchester, Vermont to continue her corporate career and complete her college degrees. Photography enabled Sharon to maintain a healthy balance of life tempering her obligations to family, to career, and to school. Sharon also enjoys photographing weddings and special occasions. She became aware that she could get more personal gratification through a media change from 35mm to digital photography

Sharon takes about 50 photos per day, always searching for the special picture that tells a special story. Living on Lake Champlain gives Sharon the opportunity to capture the daily happenings on the water. Many of her photos are of sailboats, shorelines, and nature. Photography is a never-ending love for Sharon, but sharing the digital results is the culmination of what every artist enjoys the most.
